Quantum SUPERPOSITION

Superposition is one of quantum mechanics' most known and mind-bending principles. A quantum particle — like an electron — doesn't have a definite state until it is measured. Instead, it exists as a probability wave across all possible states at once.

The most famous thought experiment of Schrödinger's Cat illustrates this: a cat in a sealed box with a radioactive atom is simultaneously alive and dead until the box is opened and observed. There is chance for both the radioactive atom to decay or not to decay and due to this there is chance for both the cat to be alive or dead and Schrödinger says that the cat is both dead and alive at the same time until the box is opened and observed. This is just a thought experiment this is only true in the case of quantum particles not in the case of macroscopic objects like cats. This is just for people to get a better understanding of superposition.

DOUBLE SLIT EXPERIMENT

Shows particles behave like waves and collapse upon observation.

The double slit experiment demonstrates that quantum particles (like electrons or photons) behave as both waves and particles, producing an interference pattern when observed and acting as particles when measured. When electrons are fired through two slits without observation, they create an interference pattern — as if each electron passes through both slits as a wave simultaneously which will cause the waves to cancel out each other appearing alternate bright and dark fringes.

But the moment a detector watches which slit the electron passes through, the interference pattern disappears and the electron behaves like a particle showing only some spots in surface as the photons hits the surface. The act of observation collapses the wave function.
This type of experiment was first described by Thomas Young in 1801 when making his case for the wave behavior of visible light.[1] In 1927, Davisson and Germer and, independently, George Paget Thomson and his research student Alexander Reid[2] demonstrated that electrons show the same behavior, which was later extended to atoms and molecules
The experiment belongs to a general class of "double path" experiments, in which two diffracted waves reconverge, creating an interference pattern. Another version is the Mach–Zehnder interferometer, which splits the beam with a beam splitter.

ENTANGLEMENT

Two particles remain connected; measuring one instantly affects the other.

Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon where state of one subatomic particle instantly affect the state of other particle which have been entnagled with each other, wherein the quantum state of each particle in a group cannot be described independently of the state of others, even across vast distances. Einstein famously called this "spooky action at a distance".

When you measure the spin of one entangled particle and get "up", the other instantly shows "down" — regardless of the distance between them. This has been confirmed experimentally over distances exceeding 1,200 km. The Important thing that even make Einstein question quantum mechanics is the fact that here distance is not a matter ofcourse, light is the speed limit of the universe, But here two entangled particles somehow know the position of the other particle instantly regardless of the distance between them denying the speed limit.

UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE

The more precisely you know position, the less you know momentum — and vice versa.

Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle states that it is fundamentally impossible to know both the exact position and momentum of a particle simultaneously. This isn't a limitation of our instruments — it's a deep truth about nature.

The more precisely we pin down a particle's location, the more uncertain its momentum becomes — and vice versa. The uncertainty is encoded in the formula: Δx · Δp ≥ ℏ/2. It states that there is a limit to the precision with which certain pairs of physical properties, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known. In other words, the more accurately one property is measured, the less accurately the other property can be known.

⚡ KEY FACT This principle explains why electrons don't spiral into atomic nuclei — their position uncertainty creates a minimum energy state that stabilises atoms. If an electron looses energy and were restricted to the tiny space of the nucleus, its momentum uncertainty would become immense, resulting in high kinetic energy that forces it back out.
